Data
The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) has been designated as the competent authority for data altruism and for data intermediation services in line with the Data Governance Act.
The MDIA is also the designated competent authority for all the provisions of the Data Act, except for Articles 23–31 and Articles 34–35.
The Data Governance Act
The Data Governance Act sets a common framework for data governance, including conditions for reusing public sector data, a framework for data intermediation services, voluntary registration for data altruism entities, and the establishment of a European Data Innovation Board.
The Data Act
The Data Act aims to promote fairness in how the value derived from data is distributed among stakeholders within the data economy. It provides clear guidance on data usage rights, specifying who may access and use data and under what conditions.
